Yuzvendra Chahal speaks on Divorce from Dhanashree Verma: A Gradual Unraveling

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal recently spoke candidly about his divorce from choreographer Dhanashree Verma during a podcast, shedding light on the reasons behind their separation. The decision, he revealed, was not abrupt but the culmination of challenges that had been simmering for years.

Chahal explained that both he and Dhanashree initially kept their struggles private, projecting a normal relationship on social media in hopes of salvaging their marriage. “We were trying to hold on, hoping things might get better,” he shared, admitting that maintaining a public facade was partly driven by optimism for reconciliation.

The core issue, according to Chahal, stemmed from their demanding careers. His rigorous cricket schedule and Dhanashree’s professional commitments left little room for quality time together. “Marriage requires compromise from both sides,” he noted, reflecting on how their clashing schedules and differing personalities gradually created friction. Over the past couple of years, the strain intensified, eroding their ability to nurture the relationship.

The emotional toll was significant for Chahal, who opened up about the mental health challenges he faced during this period. He described battling depression and even grappling with suicidal thoughts, exacerbated by public scrutiny and harsh labels like “cheater” post-divorce. Despite these hardships, Chahal emphasized that the decision to part ways was mutual, driven by an honest acknowledgment that their paths had diverged.
